My name is Kyle Hynes and I’m a studio engineer, musician, composer, location sound operator, software engineer, professional chef, and family man (just to name a few) based in Virginia Beach, VA. My journey in music began where so many others’ may have started before me; as a trombonist in my middle school band. However, the second I picked up a guitar as a pre-teen and taught myself Smoke On Water was when the real work started. I start here because every moment of my journey, from trombonist to Flagship Studios, has contributed to my versatility, expanded my knowledge, and honed my skills; all of which allows me the ability to tell your unique story the way it should uniquely be told.
The boilerplate notes: I have over a decade of experience recording, engineering, producing, mixing, mastering, performing, composing, boom operating, and so much more across multiple states, multiple mediums, and multiple genres. I am a multi-instrumentalist of over 20 years. I am a self-taught engineer who is able to function in a wide array of environments, from my mom and dad’s basement to our current fully equipped dual studio at Flagship. I’ve worked with musicians from just about every land of genre including metal, country, hip hop, indie, EDM, and gospel. My experience spans across the aisle into filmmaking, having worked with film scores, sound designers, ADR, and foley artists. My services reach beyond the studio as well, with the ability to work remotely with a portable rig and a ready, adaptable mindset to accommodate any location.
More to the point, I am not just a sound engineer; I am a home-grown, extremely versatile, and dedicated storyteller equipped with decades of diverse experience. I am incredibly passionate about the creative process when working with artists, providing them the space and opportunity to tell their own story, and supporting them in the journey of that telling that story; from start to finish.
